Resources for Students
"If you give me a fish, you have fed me for a day. If you teach me to fish, then you have fed me until the river is contaminated or the shoreline seized for development. But if you teach me to ORGANIZE, then whatever the challenge, I can join together with my peers...and we will fashion OUR OWN SOLUTION!" --Ricardo Levins Morales, artist and activist

Students of Color Conference: The Multicultural Student Services Directors Council (part of the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges) organizes this annual event which takes place every Spring quarter. This statewide conference offers students the opportunity to participate in caucuses by ethnic identity group, social justice workshops, cultural empowerment seminars, and college transfer and career building opportunities.
The DEC around campus
The DEC would love to partner with you to empower students! Please contact us to organize a workshop, panel presentation, discussion session, or special class, led or co-facilitated by Office of Diversity and Equity staff members and/or student leaders. We can have workshops titled: "If Everyone Understood My Culture, How Would Things Be Different?" "Hot Buttons," "Stereotype Threat," "Identity Development," or we can work with you to help debrief a topic your class is studying either during your class period or as a separate session in the DEC.
